Hughton Birminghams Next Boss

Ex-Newcastle boss Chris Hughton has become the next Birmingham boss after signing the deal moments ago. Hughton took over as boss of Newcastle as caretaker but was installed as full time manager as he lead them to Championship victory before being fired after Newcastle were mid table quater of a way through last season. Birmingham now hope he can regain the Championship title with Birmingham as they try to get back into the Premier league.

Birmingham were relegated to the Championship on the last day of the season after losing to Tottenham. Manager Alex Mcleish was told he could stay on and try to regain their Premiership place, however he  made the infamous switch to Villa which Birmingham are still chasing compensaion for.

Ex West Brom boss Roberto Di Matteo was also a candidate however the Blues preffreed Hughton who has been out of football since December after he was sacked, seemingly unfairly by Newcastle.

However Birmingham chairman says that there is a lot of pressure to lead Birmingham back to the promised land on first attempt and has made it clear that this is what he expects, anything less will be a failure.

Hughton has also previously been assistant managers at The Republic of Ireland and Tottenham, he was expected to become assistant manager to Martin Jol at Fulham however he has instead taken up the managerial role at Birmingham.
