Liverpool Snap Up Henderson

Liverpools new £20m man
Liverpool Fc have agreed to sign Sunderlands Henderson in a deal worth £20 million.

"A fee has been agreed with Liverpool for Jordan Henderson and he travels to Anfield with the club's blessing," said a Sunderland statement. Liverpool had already had an offer of £16 million rejected but their new offer is enough to tempt Sunderland in to selling.

Henderson is set to play in the England under 21 squad for the European cup this summer and Liverpool hope to complete his medical before he leaves for this. It is thought that Ngog may be going to Sunderland as part of the deal but this is yet to be confirmed.

Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn was full of praise for Henderson: "Jordan is a credit to himself, his family and Sunderland's Academy and everyone here wishes him the very best for the future.
"I'm pleased that we got the deal to a level that we felt was right for our club.
"We know the areas that need strengthening and the type of player we need in order to progress, and the job of bringing those players to the club is continuing at a pace."

Henderson had a five year contract at Sunderland before he made the switch.

Henderson has played for the England squad before, and although his form dipped towards the end of the season he is still regarded as one of Englands brightest young talents. It was expected that Henderson would move to Old Trafford, however Utd are now after other midfield targets due to his drop in form.

It is believed that Connor Wickham is next on Liverpools list as Dalgish looks to sign up and coming English prospects.
